The Initiative:
In 2017, shortly after joining Elevation Church staff I noticed a lack of consistency with the voice and tone of writing. From times & dates, to capitalization, to the tone of our copy on social media posts — there was plenty of room for improvement.
The Audience:
Elevation Church staff members with a special emphasis on comms roles.
The Solution:
I spearheaded the creation of a 3-part guide for nailing our voice, tone, and style across all mediums, as well as a special section for storytelling.
The Outcome:
Within 6 months, my team drafted, designed, and deployed the guide to hundreds of staff members. I then created a 15-minute onboarding presentation that I delivered in-person to groups of 15-20 new staff members on a quarterly basis. The guide is still being used years later (2017-present) and has been updated as needed.
