Have you ever stopped and thought about the effect your words can have on those around you? It’s so easy to live life and use words as you please and according to how you feel at the moment. The problem with choosing our words based on our feelings is that it isn’t natural to be positive with our words at all times, especially if you’re dealing with stress.
You probably curb your tongue around people you don’t know all that well, but what about when you are with those you are closest to? I know I don’t realize the power of my words enough. All too often I find myself speaking negatively because of the way I feel at the moment.
The Bible is pretty clear about the power of our words. In Proverbs 18:21, it says that the tongue has the power of life and death. That’s a pretty serious responsibility. Every time we open our mouths we create either LIFE or DEATH.
In the video below you can see just how much affect it has on the participants when they focus on speaking encouragement and life. What’s interesting is that it doesn’t just positively affect the recipient of the compliment, but the giver seems to experience just as much joy from the act. When you see their reactions you will probably wonder why we don’t do it more often…
“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”
Ephesians 4:29 (NLT)

Such a powerful truth in this message. If we could all grab hold of this, how our lives would change! Good job! Keep haring God’s voice!
Thank you, Pam!
