If you are like most people, when you hear the word ‘worship’ you think of praise music and hands being raised. We tend to think of worship simply as an event. Something with a definite start and finish time.
While what we do on Sundays is in fact worship, it’s only one form of it. Worship is not just something you do; it’s a way of life.
It’s a built-in desire to give our energy and passion away to someone or something.We all worship, but sometimes our worship is misguided. At times, our worship may be based on a person, a sports team, or a dollar figure.
The grim result of our worship being based on these created things is a life full of emptiness, always on the search for more and never having enough. We were created to only be satisfied in life when we have our satisfaction in Christ. Only Jesus has the capacity to ultimately fulfill us.
Jesus knows that if our worship is based on a person, they will eventually fail us. If our worship is based on a sports team, they will eventually lose. And if it’s based on a dollar figure, we will be unsatisfied regardless of the amount.
God wants you to know there is a difference in a life filled with the worship of Christ. When we give our worship to Jesus, He gives back. He satisfies that deep longing for satisfaction that we all have inside.
True worship consumes you and always becomes more than what you can hold inside. It billows up and overflows affecting those around us.
God wants our life to be so consumed with worship that it just spontaneously bubbles up and out into everything we do.
He doesn’t want our worship to be confined to just the walls of a church building either. In fact, it is necessary that our worship move outside the walls of the church so that we can reflect His goodness to the rest of the world!
Your whole life will change when you realize that worship doesn’t have to be routine, ritual, or even religious. When what you do is done with a motive to acknowledge and glorify God, it becomes worship. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
The verse explicitly says “..whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
This means that your 9 to 5 job done to the best of your ability isn’t just a job, its worship!
This means that the pickup basketball games you play on the weekends can become more than a hobby, it can be worship!
This means taking care of your family, cooking meals, and raising your kids up in the way they should go is not just a chore – it’s worship!
Make the glory of God your motive in everything you do and it will become an avenue of worship you never knew existed.

Wow. Very profound article. I was truly edified by reading it. Indeed Jesus used you to speak to everyone who wants to listen. This reminds me of what Jesus told t he Samaritan woman in John 4, true worship is when you do it will all of your heart. In today’s age we ought to worship Jesus in spirit and in truth. Indeed many worship the Lord but few worship Him in spirit and in truth.
