3 Reasons You Shouldn’t Give Up The Fight

We all face battles in life. We all have weaknesses, temptations, and unfortunate circumstances that test our faith and force us to choose between giving up and giving in or fighting tooth and nail to stay close to the heart of God.

The Word says that the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). We are in a very real war with a very real enemy. It’s not easy to stay in the fight, but I can assure you, it is worth it! Here are 3 reasons why you shouldn’t give up the fight, even when you feel like it.

1. The battle has already been won!

You may lose a bunch of fights, but rest assured, the final battle has already been won. You may get beat up from time to time, but God’s grace is sufficient to cover every black eye and bruise you may encounter in your battle with sin.

One thing the Bible is very clear about is the fact that Jesus wins. The enemy tried to usurp the authority of Christ, but was forever defeated when Jesus sacrificed His life once for all (Romans 6:10). Now, Jesus has offered us His power and His authority.

Whatever the enemy is throwing at you or whatever circumstance that seems too big to fight, remember that Jesus has given you the authority and the victory! Come into agreement with it and refuse to agree with the lies!

 Luke 6:10-19

“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.

2. Defeat is a choice

1 John 4:4 tells us that the God that lives through us is greater than the enemy we are fighting. Defeat isn’t a random result; it’s a choice.

We’ve been given everything we need to stay strong and live for Him (2 Peter 1:3). The only way your fight ends in defeat is if you buy into the lie that you can’t win and you choose to give up.

We are more than conquerors through Him and there is absolutely nothing that can separate us from the love of God.

Love wins… always.

Romans 8:37-39

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

3. Your victory is the key to someone else’s victory

Your fight isn’t just about you. Your willingness to assume your God-given authority and fight, affects not only you, but also those around you.

Someone is searching for hope. Someone is waiting to watch how you respond in your fight. God may want to use YOU as a key to THEIR freedom.

Don’t give up; your decision to fight has eternal consequences!

1 Corinthians 15:57

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Whatever battles you face always remember that our fight isn’t with flesh and blood enemies. We are locked into a spiritual battle and a spiritual battle has to be fought with spiritual weapons. We must put on the full armor of God, replace the lies of the enemy with truth, and devote ourselves to fervent and expectant prayer!
